This course is not designed for absolute beginners. However, if you have a basic familiarity with the painting process and materials, you will be able to follow along and benefit from the lessons.

This course is designed to be released in stages so you can focus on each part of the process without feeling overwhelmed.

Modules 1 and 2 are available immediately, allowing you to build a strong foundation before moving forward. Modules 3 and 4 will be released after 7 days, giving you time to apply what you’ve learned. Modules 5 and 6 will then be unlocked after 14 days.

While the course demonstrates a transition from acrylic underpainting to oil layers, the same principles can be applied using acrylic alone. You can replicate the oil process by using fluid acrylics combined with a glazing medium (in place of Liquin or other oil mediums). This approach will allow you to achieve similar luminosity and layered effects.

The main difference to be aware of is drying time. Acrylics dry much faster—even when mixed with glazing medium—so you’ll need to work more quickly, especially when blending and creating smooth transitions.

The core focus of the course is understanding how to build light through layers. Once you understand that system, you can apply it using the medium you’re most comfortable with.
